Finally, Tadako speaks to me. “I believe you are aware there are two parts to my promise, Reagan,” he states. Fear paralyzes me, I remain lying still on the bed, my gaze locked on the eyes of my cellmate’s immobilized form.
Tadako slowly moves across the room returning with a hunting knife. I recognize it as the knife that was in my belt the day I was captured. My tears become hysterical as he approaches him. Part of me wishes he will kill him quickly, spare him extended pain, but I know this is too much to hope for. I know, his sadistic creature he will bring him to the brink of death, but keep him alive as a means to control me. I wonder if it is selfish of me to hope he does survive the night, knowing more pain will lie ahead of him.
Tadako moves behind him resting a hand on his shoulder looking at me. “Reagan, you are incredibly stupid for such a smart girl,” he sneers. “I told you what would happen for any misstep by you.” My fear is threatening to boil over and make me vomit. He makes a show of grabbing my cellmate’s hair, forcing his head back, holding the knife against his throat. He then pauses, looking at me intently.
